K2BTools for GeneXus Next

One of K2BTools' priorities is to be ready for new GeneXus versions and features. Currently the embodiment of that priority is being ready for GeneXus Next, the upcoming version of GX.

K2BTools users that are participating in the GeneXus Next beta can test our beta version as well.

This page explains how to install K2BTools in GXNext and the current status.

Installation

To use K2BTools with GeneXus Next Edition, you must first install a private Beta version of GeneXus Next Edition, as it is distinct from the public version available on the official GeneXus site.

Step 1: Install the GeneXus Next Edition Private Beta

Download and install the 2025.02 version from GeneXus Download Center

Step 2: Install the K2BTools Plugin

  1. In the main menu of GeneXus, navigate to View => Other Tool Windows => Plugin Explorer.

  2. Locate the K2BTools plugin in the list and press the Install button.

  3. Wait a few minutes for the installation to complete. GeneXus will automatically restart.

After GeneXus restarts, you are ready to use K2BTools in your projects.

Licensing

K2BTools for GeneXus Next can be used with no license controls until the 31st of March 2026.

What's working

  • Patterns (Entity Services, Trn Form, Prompt) editors work as in the Windows IDE, with few exceptions (see below).

    You can drag the window to display the preview next to the instance editor.

  • Web Panel Designer can be edited as text in the Source part.

What's pending

  • Responsive Sizes property values inside K2BTools instances cannot be edited using a user friendly editor.
  • Design System configuration:
    • Application logo cannot be selected.
    • Colors can only be edited in the colors step.
  • Entity Services specific:
    • Template-based initialization not available.
  • Web Panel Designer specific:
    • Generate Row Selection SDT action not available.
  • Preview as a standalone window.
