Updating the theme after installing a new K2BTools version - up to version 12.4

Note:
This document describes the how to update the theme after installing a new K2BTools version up to version 12.4. Latest version is documented in Updating a K2BTools theme to a new version

After a new version of K2BTools is installed, themes provided by K2BTools used in the knowledge base are imported with incremental integration. As these themes may modified both by the developer and K2BTools, some actions must be performed to update the theme to the classes and rules that were added by K2BTools mantaining the customization made by the developer. These actions depended on how the developer uses the theme in the KB. Below is an explanation of the actions the developer must perform.

Developer updates the theme provided by K2BTools.

In this case, the theme will be imported with incremental integration. Customizations made by the developer should be maintained. However, properties that were modified both by the developer and K2BTools will be overwritten. In this case, comparing the differences in the history between the theme after it is imported by K2BTools, and before it is imported to check that developer rules remains is the best path to follow. If the developer keeps a change log of the modifications that are done in the theme (recommended) check with the differences that the customizations remains.

Developer updates a copy of a K2BTools theme (created with a save as)

In this case, the theme created by the developer will not be affected by the update of the theme provided by K2BTools. However, some changes could be needed by K2BTools to improve the user interface or to support new features. To do this, the best option is to update the theme and compare the two versions of the theme (before the import and after) and manually reproduce the changes in the theme created by the developer.
